CSAP Scores for 2008

Durango 9-R district-level CSAP scores remain above the state average in all areas, however there is evidence of decline that will be addressed by administrators and teachers as soon as the school year convenes. While we continue to be a high performing district we are not realizing the continuous growth in achievement to which we are committed.

Below is a summary of the district-level performance on the 2008 CSAP. The links point to scores in Excel format:

CSAP results this year continue to show that we are not making systematic and sustained achievement growth for certain groups of students who fall below the district average. These groups include our Native American students, Hispanic students, Special Education students, English Language Learners, and Economically Disadvantaged students. Scores for these groups of students are inconsistent and fluctuate widely each year. This is an area that continues to be of particular concern and will receive further attention.

Finally, principals and district staff will spend the day on August 7th reviewing and analyzing each school’s data to thoroughly understand the implications of the data and develop preliminary plans of action for the 2008 –2009 school year.

Dr. Owen, new district Superintendent, has as his top priority the improvement of academic achievement for all 9-R students. His initial entry plan into the school district includes a visit into every classroom within the first four weeks of school. He looks forward to valuable conversations with students, teachers, and principals to gather information on how to improve achievement and address the general decline of scores within the school district.
