2009-2010 School Calendar

2009-2010 DHS 9th Grade Registration
All incoming 9th grade students and their parents/guardians are asked to attend "9th Grade Registration" on May 11th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at DHS. Please note that the Thursday, May 14th date has been canceled. This is a new process, so parents and students are urged to attend. Student registration fees will be due at this time. The general fee will be $40. For more information, please contact the DHS Partner in Education Coordinator, Diane McCarthy at 259-1630 ext. 2026 or dmccarthy@durango.k12.co.us.

9-R Retirement Celebration 2009
We would like to congratulate the 9-R employees who are planning on retiring this year! A celebration was hosted by the Board of Education in their honor at the DoubleTree Hotel on Thursday evening, April 30. Summer School for Grades 9-12 at DHS
Summer school for 9th to 12th grade students will run from June 1st to June 26th at Durango High School for credit-recovery only. Two sessions will be offered, one from 8:00 - 10:30 am and the second session from 11:00 - 1:30 in the afternoon. Only courses in core areas of math, science, social studies, and English will be offered. If you are interested, applications are available at the Durango High School’s counseling office. The deadline for summer school registration is May 15th. The cost for the first course for DHS students is $150 and $75 for the second course. Durango Big Picture High School Information
As the Big Picture school gets ready to open in August of 2009, with 9th-and 10th-graders, we encourage parents, students, and the community to learn all they can about this exciting program. Applications are available at DHS, Miller or Escalante Middle Schools.
